PLEASE NOTE - Tickets to be bought from https://ellentuftsstudio.square.site/product/one-day-group-tufting-workshop/10?cp=true&sa=false&sbp=false&q=false&category_id=4

Saturday 23rd March,  £120 – Max 6 Students

9:30- 17.30

In this new, condensed version of the sell-out Introduction to Tufting weekend workshop, local textile artist Ellen Russell, will teach you the hugely popular art of tufting in just one day.

Tufting is the textile process whereby yarns are pushed through fabric with a motorized tool called a tufting gun, to create a rug effect. Students will learn the basics of how to use both loop and cut pile tufting guns, as well as the different yarns and the other materials required. By the end of the workshop the will have created their own tufted textile artwork in the form of a mini rug or wall hanging (max size 60x60cm).

This workshop encourages students to enjoy having creative freedom as opposed to a ‘paint by numbers’ approach. Ellen will discuss individual design ideas and colours with students via email prior to the workshop and can also provide templates if preferred. After the workshop, she will stay and seal the backs and edges of each piece with glue, before leaving them to dry overnight. Students can then collect their work the following morning from the Design Collective or from Ellen’s Margate studio the following week. For anyone not local, postage can be arranged.

No experience necessary, suitable for all levels. If you have any questions concerning accessibility or for all other enquriries please contact Ellen directly at ellentufts@gmail.com.

Want to gift this workshop experience to a loved one? Ellen can provide a free voucher gift box.

“Ellen was a fantastic teacher and went through the process from start to finish - she was available to answer and questions and troubleshoot. She made it easy to understand and was extremely helpful! Can't wait to make more rugs!”

“Ellen’s tufting workshop was amazing. I had no experience of tufting, but Ellen showed us all how to hold, thread, and use the tufting guns. With a couple of test goes and after feeling confident to use the gun, we drew out our pieces and started. Ellen is a fantastic teacher and even showed me how to do some hand tufting. I have recommended Ellen’s tufting workshop to all my friends and family.”

“Fantastic workshop with lots of help. Ellen is a great tutor. Want to do more!”
